EF-0 tornado hits Walburg in northeast Williamson County

TRAIL OF DAMAGE.

WE START IN THE FIRST WARNING WEATHER CENTER.

JIM – THIS SEEMS REALLY UNUSUAL TO HAVE A TORNADO IN JANUARY – WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS ONE?? WE WANT TO GIVE YOU SOME UP- CLOSE PERSPECTIVE OF THIS STORM.

KXAN'S ALICIA INNS IS LIVE IN WALBURG WITH A CLOSER LOOK AT THE DAMAGE THIS TORNADO LEFT BEHIND.

TALK ABOUT AN ERIE FRIDAY THE 13TH.

THERE WAS SOME SLIGHT DAMAGE DONE TO THE ROOFS OF HOMES IN THIS AREA BUT THIS IS WHAT GOT HIT THE HARDEST BY THE TORNADO.

WE ARE AT CPI PRODUCTS JUST SOUTH OF WALBURG.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE ROOF METAL THAT IS NOW JUST MANGLED ON THE GROUND HERE.

AND IF YOU LOOK OUT INTO THE FIELD.

SEE ALL THAT YELLOW THAT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE FLOWERS? THAT'S INSULATION FROM THE ROOF AND IT IS SPREAD ACROSS THIS ENTIRE FIELD.

I EVEN SPOTTED SOME AS FAR AS 3 FOOTBALL FIELDS AWAY.

WORKERS HERE SAY THEY WERE JUST GOING ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS WHEN THE WIND PICKED UP, IT STARTED TO RAIN REALLY HEAVY BUT THEN STOPPED AGAIN AND THAT'S WHEN THEY REALIZED WHAT HAPPENED.

"SAW LEAVES AND WHAT WE THOUGHT WERE BIRDS.

IT WAS ODD.

THEY WERE SWIRLING AROUND AND REALIZED THAT IT WAS A TORNADO.

IT GOT MUCH DARKER AT THAT POINT AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE INSULATION JUST EXPLODED INTO THE FIELD.

WE GOT OUT AND GOT EVERYBODY OUT AND INTO THE OFFICE AND REALIZED A BIG SECTION OF THE ROOF HAD BEEN RIPPED OFF.

" LUCKILY EVERYONE IS OK AND GET THIS.

THE PEOPLE HERE SAY THE WHOLE THING LASTED PROBABLY 10-15 SECONDS.

THAT'S IT — BUT LOOK HOW MUCH DAMAGE WAS DONE IN THAT SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.

WORK IS ALREADY UNDER WAY TO REPAIR THIS ROOF.

THEY HAVE A CREW OUT HERE WORKING TO FIX IT BECAUSE OF THE ANTICIPATED RAIN THIS WEEKENDJIM.

THIS TORNADO HAS BEEN RATED AN EF-0.

RARE JANUARY TORNADO, BUT THE DO HAPPEN.

MORE SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE IN OUR FORECAST, COMING UP.
